About the Course

This 6-week course aims to enhance students' problem-solving abilities in relation to two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures. Through a combination of mathematical and real-world scenarios, students will learn how to effectively solve problems involving the area and volume of figures by decomposing them into triangles or rectangles. Additionally, students will develop the skills to find the surface area of right rectangular prisms and right rectangular pyramids using the figure's net.

By breaking down complex figures into simpler shapes, students will gain a deeper understanding of their properties and be able to apply this knowledge to solve both mathematical and real-world problems. For example, they will be able to determine the area of a rectangle or find the perimeter of a given shape by plotting points on a coordinate plane. These skills are not only applicable in mathematical contexts, but are also useful in practical situations, such as calculating the area of a room or determining the amount of paint needed to cover a surface.

Throughout the course, students will be exposed to a variety of problem-solving strategies and will have ample opportunities to apply these strategies in different contexts. By engaging with both mathematical and real-world scenarios, students will develop a well-rounded understanding of how to approach and solve problems involving two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures. Ultimately, this course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to confidently tackle complex geometry problems and to apply their knowledge in practical situations.
